Research in Action
We have begun our independent research projects. The students are very excited to get a chance to test out their new research skills. Each child has chosen one wild animal from a Manitoba environment to learn more about. They will be thinking about its appearance, habitat, diet, enemies, babies and fun facts. Then we will design and build a diorama depicting the animals natural habitat. A note was sent home about supplies. Please collect them and send them in by Wed. Apparently we may be getting a blizzard by the end of the week....

The Integrated Arts
We had s special guest in our room this week. Her name was Leanne and she was a storyteller. She shared stories about the 7 teachings. We learned about respect, wisdom, humility, honesty, love, truth and courage. We heard her tell animal stories but we learned that these words and their message can help us be the best we can be. Annnd we had a lot of fun acting out the stories!!!

A Poppy is To Remember
We have been learning all about peace. What peace feels like and looks like, how it sounds and how we can contribute to our world to promote peace. Today we took part in the Stevenson Remembrance Day service. It was a Serious assembly and we were given lots to think about when a guest speaker shared his thoughts on peace and the military's role in bringing peace to our world.

Learning Internet Safety and research skills
We are learning different ways do research while we study bats. So far we have learned how to conduct an interview and we wrote about bats appearance. We used library books to find out about bay habitats. We watched an educational video to learn about how bats eat. Today we learned safe internet rules and used the internet to research about bat babies. Soon we will be publishing our very first non fiction information book - all about Bats!

Halloween was a howl!
We had a lot of fun on Halloween day. We talked about the celebration and family traditions and we participated in a few traditions of our own in room 14. We carved pumpkins and counted the seeds to see which one had the most. Good thing we know how to estimate and count by 10 because it would have taken us till Christmas to count all of the seeds!!! Then we had a blast while we boogied at the dance a thin. The prizes will be announced soon. Stay tuned! Finally we learned about good manners at a buffet type party and we had snacks and visited . It was a wonderful day! You can see all the fun in our instagram account. Check it out!
