Spring has sprung in Room 14

We have begun a frog/pond inquiry. Today one of our classmates and our EA went on a special scientific exploration to bring back a sign of spring and wow did they ever find a good one...frog eggs in pond water! We read all about the life cycle of a frog and got a chance to share what we know and what we wonder! It is going to be a wonder-full scientific inquiry!!!! Music rocks!

We are busy preparing for our special Music Monday assembly. We hope you can make it! It will be at 9:00 am Monday  May 2 in the gym. 

Making ten FUN!

We are practicing our Ten Facts by Playing!!!! Games are a great way to reinforce concepts and foster cooperation and communication. 

Changing Weather -Changing Clothes

We had fun discussing how people change their clothes to suit the season. We read a story about s little bear who was waiting for spring to arrive. Some animals change for spring too. We dressed Alfie bear so he could go out and play on a rainy Spring day, a warm spring day and a cold Spring day. You never know what weather Spring will bring! 

Making 10

We are learning to use strategies to speed up when adding or subtracting. Today we learned the "making 10" strategy or "10 facts". It's a breeze! 

We used the cuisinaire rods to prove this strategy. We noticed the pattern looks like stairs because as one part gets larger the matching part gets smaller. 

A Wonderful Gift
