Our pumpkins are Measuring Up!

We are learning about measurement in math. We have been doing a pumpkin investigation and today we read a story called "The Biggest Pumpkin". We wanted to find out which pumpkin was the biggest in our room so we decided to measure how tall the pumpkins were. First, we estimated using a reference of 5 blocks, and used our imagination to make a thinking guess.
Then we recorded our estimate. After that we made a tower as tall as our pumpkin and recorded how many blocks we needed to make our tower the same height as our pumpkin. Finally we compared the towers to see who had a taller tower and who had a shorter tower. We noticed that no one had a taller tower than Oliver and Ruby so that meant they had the tallest pumpkin!
